Living in Dubai comes with a host of advantages, and one that is often overlooked is the ease of doing your laundry. Unlike many other countries, you don't actually need a tumble dryer here at all. This is reflected in most homes: the standard is a washing machine without a dryer.

In popular neighbourhoods such as Dubai Marina or Palm Jumeirah, you often see apartments with a balcony or small outdoor space where residents hang their laundry to dry. No hassle with appliances that consume a lot of electricity or take up space. Furthermore, it is also better for your clothing, as air drying is much gentler than using a tumble dryer.

For expats who have just arrived, it can take some getting used to, but the idea that you don't need an extra appliance and can still have your clothes dry in record time is a breath of fresh air. Especially with rising energy costs, this is a pleasant advantage of living in Dubai.
