How to Check if Your UAE Visa is Still Valid in 30 Seconds

It’s a common situation: you want to know if your visa for the United Arab Emirates is still valid, perhaps before you travel, when changing jobs, or simply because you’re no longer sure. Fortunately, you can check this easily and for free online. Within 30 seconds, you’ll know exactly where you stand.

Do you have a visa from Dubai? Then go to the official GDRFA website: gdrfad.gov.ae. Click on ‘Visa Status’ and enter your details. You will need: your file number, first name, nationality and date of birth. After submitting, you will see your visa status immediately.

For all other emirates, such as Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman, use the ICP website: smartservices.icp.gov.ae. Click on ‘Public Services’ and then on ‘File Validity’. You can search here using your file number, Emirates ID, or passport number, in combination with your date of birth. Here too, you will get the information immediately.

What Information You Will See and Where to Find Your Details

After entering your details, you will see the following information, among other things:

  • File number
  • UID number
  • Status (valid, expired or cancelled)
  • Date of issue
  • Expiry date

You can find your file number on:

  • The visa stamp in your passport
  • The e-visa PDF you received via email
  • The UAE Pass app under the ‘residency documents’ section
  • Your Emirates ID (the UID number also works)

For questions, you can contact the following numbers:

  • Dubai (Amer): 800 5111
  • ICP customer service: 600 522222

This check is particularly useful if you plan to travel soon, are in the process of starting a new job, or simply want to know when your visa expires.
