Dubai Fountain Finally Refilled with Water After Extended Closure

Following a four-month renovation period, the Dubai Fountain has been refilled with water. Since April, the iconic water spectacle in Downtown Dubai had been inactive due to necessary technical upgrades. Although Emaar has not yet announced an official reopening date, rumours suggest October is the most likely month for the shows to return.

What Has Been Renovated in the Fountain System

The renovation went beyond a simple refurbishment. The entire floor of the fountain has been replaced, including the installation of new waterproof layers and improved insulation to prevent future damage. Blue tiles have also been installed, which are visible underwater and contribute to the overall aesthetic.

Furthermore, the technical system has been significantly upgraded. There are new lighting installations, more advanced water jets, and improved synchronisation with music, which should make the shows more spectacular than ever. In June, Emaar even released a video showcasing the scale of the works.

Visitors who have recently been to Downtown Dubai have noticed that large sections of the basin are full of water again and that almost all construction materials have been cleared. Although the shows are not yet running, the area around the fountain is accessible for walking through.

Significant Interest in Potential Reopening

The Dubai Fountain, located at the foot of the Burj Khalifa, covers an area equivalent to approximately 18 football pitches and contains a complex network of water jets, robotic arms, and lighting technology. All of this works together to perform choreographies set to well-known pieces of music. Following the renovations, there are high expectations for the upcoming shows once they resume.
